Sunshine Village is not only the second largest ski area in Alberta, but also the highest in western Canada and therefore particularly snow-sure. Sunshine also offers challenges for experts – and a special test of courage.

„In the heart of Banff National Park, surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama, lies the multifaceted ski resort Sunshine Village. The ski resort is located on the continental divide that separates the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It is even possible to ski in both the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia (BC) during one run. With its 2730 meters of altitude and corresponding snow guarantee, Sunshine is open to winter sports enthusiasts from November to May, offering the longest off-glacier season in Canada. The annual snowfall, some of which remains year-round, can reach nine meters. As the highest ski area in Alberta, Sunshine Village has an alpine feel with many open slopes.

Only 20 minutes from the beautiful town of Banff, the resort is easily accessible by shuttle bus or car. A comfortable gondola takes you from the bottom station to the middle station, from where you can explore „“Goat’s Eye Mountain““ or continue uphill to Sunshine Village, a charming little village with the only ski-in ski-out Sunshine Mountain Lodge hotel, restaurants and stores.

Sunshine: Freerider’s dream with tests of courage

There are black runs at nearly every lift, as well as numerous ungroomed slopes. However, one in particular stands out: the notorious Delirium Dive – the ultimate test of courage for experts. The area in the „“Delirium Dive““ is very varied, interspersed with rocks and was even named one of the top ten freeride off-piste destinations in the world.

The run „“The WildWest““ offers a similar amount of adrenaline. Here, too, the most demanding freeriding is possible for experts. Admission to both areas is only possible with the necessary avalanche equipment. However, Sunshine Village is not only a snow paradise for experts. Due to the size of the ski area, there is a wide selection of slopes here for all skill levels and there is also a nice beginner area. For snowboarders and fun ski lovers, at the „“Continental Divide““ chairlift is the „“Rogers Terrain Park““ with enough rails, boxes and kickers and everything the snowboarder and freeskier heart desires.“
