Snowwater Heliskiing: Highlight in Canada’s Kootenays
Not only the beautiful deep snow inspires guests from all over the world. Snowwater Heliski is especially famous for steep tree skiing and its numerous endless runs to enjoy!
Snowwater Heliskiing flies in three mountain regions in the Selkirk and Purcell Mountains in Canada, which are spoiled by light, dry powder and lots of sun. The helibase is located at 1,646 meters in the Bonnington Mountains. Snowcrest Peak is the highest peak at 2,865 meters. In addition to the Bonnigtons, Nelson Range and the Valhallas are also part of the heli provider’s area.
Snowwater Heliskiing in the south of BC – Powder guaranteed
The Snowwater office is located in South Slocan, 20 minutes drive from Nelson BC and therefore close to Whitewater Ski Resort, 45 minutes from Rossland and Red Mountain. Transfers to Snowwater Lodge are via Snowcat. Two to five day packages are available including shuttle service, luxury accommodations, meals and no limit on vertical. Flights are in small groups of four guests and a guide in a B2 A-Star helicopter. Even in bad weather conditions Snowwater does not stand still. As a helicopter backup there is the possibility to switch to a Snowcat (Bombardier MP).
Snowwater Heliskiing – Dream destination on the Powder Highway
Snowwater celebrated its 20th anniversary in the 2014 season. The company was founded in 1994 by Canadian Patric Maloney, who with a few friends independently built the „“timber frame lodge““ in the middle of beautiful nature in British Columbia to withstand winter storms. Since then, Snowwater has been wholly Canadian owned and operated. The exclusive mountain lodge consists of three main buildings. Two of the buildings accommodate twelve guests each in six luxuriously appointed rooms overlooking a spectacular landscape panorama. The third building is the dining room where lunch and dinner are served. There is also a hot tub on the outdoor grounds. Relaxation after a hard day in the powder is guaranteed!“
Insider-Tipp
The region’s non plus ultra is the Kootenay Sampler: the ideal combo package of heliskiing, catskiing and resort skiing. The powder experience lasts six to seven days and starts with a warm-up at Red or Whitewater Resort. Then it’s on to the Valhalla Powdercats for two days. After a relaxation day with a visit to the hot springs, the highlight is two to three days of heliskiing with Snowwater.
