It’s located on what’s known as the Powder Highway 15 minutes (19 km) southwest of Nelson, a laid-back, charming ski town in the Selkirk Mountains known for dry, light snow in high volumes: The famous Kootenay Powder. A skiing vacation in Whitewater is like a journey back in time

A trip to Whitewater is like stepping back in time. Until 2010, there was only a small ski area with just two lifts. Then the Glory Ridge triple chairlift was built and the area grew to double its size. Currently, there is no lodging at the ski area itself, but Nelson offers an affordable alternative.

There are daily shuttles to and from the resort. Nelson itself is definitely worth a visit! Nelson is a colorful city with many local artists and an alternative culture. You can definitely spend your vacation here if you want to go skiing in Whitewater.

Another plus of the ski area are the fair prices: Cheap lift tickets, child care and a ski school makes Whitewater popular for families as well. Accommodation and meals are also relatively affordable.
